How do I scan a document?
Tap the + button, then choose Scan with Camera to capture pages, or Import from Photos / Import from Files to bring in images or existing PDFs. Review and reorder pages, pick an enhancement filter, give it a title, and tap Save.
Do my documents get uploaded anywhere?
Never. All scanning, enhancement, and text recognition happen entirely on your device. Scanly has no servers and makes no network connections with your documents. See our Privacy Policy.
Are the scans really searchable?
Yes. Scanly uses Apple's on-device Vision OCR to recognize the text in your pages and adds a searchable text layer to every PDF. Use the search bar in your library to find documents by the words inside them — no internet required.
Is there a watermark on my PDFs?
No. Exported PDFs are clean and professional, with no watermark — even on the free tier.
What does Scanly Pro unlock, and is it a subscription?
Scanly Pro is a one-time purchase — never a subscription. The free tier lets you keep up to 5 saved documents; Pro removes that limit so you can save unlimited documents. Pay once, scan forever.
I bought Pro on another device / reinstalled. How do I get it back?
Open Scanly, tap the crown to open the Scanly Pro screen, and tap Restore Purchases. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and restores for free.
I don't have a camera, or it's unavailable.
No problem — Scanly works without a camera. Tap +, then Import from Photos or Import from Files to scan from images or PDFs you already have.
