How do I access the Parent Dashboard?
Navigate to Settings and tap "Parent Dashboard". The default passcode is 0000. You can change this passcode after first access for added security. The parent dashboard shows detailed analytics, progress reports, and insights about skill development.
What are the 7 executive function skills tracked?
EF Academy tracks: Planning (breaking down tasks), Working Memory (holding information), Organization (keeping track of things), Time Management (managing time), Task Initiation (getting started), Self-Control (managing impulses), and Flexibility (adapting to changes).
How are skills automatically detected when I create a mission?
The app analyzes your mission title, description, and task steps to identify which executive function skills you're practicing. For example, missions with multiple steps develop Planning, time-sensitive tasks develop Time Management, and missions requiring memory work develop Working Memory.
Can I export my progress to share with teachers or therapists?
Yes! In the Parent Dashboard, you'll find an export feature that generates PDF progress reports. These reports include skill development trends, mission history, and detailed analytics that can be shared with educators, therapists, or other professionals.
Is my data safe and private?
Absolutely! All your data is stored locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Your missions, progress, and all app data never leave your device. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
How do streaks work?
Your streak increases by 1 each day you complete at least one mission. Maintaining streaks helps build consistent habits and daily routines. If you miss a day, your streak resets to 0, but don't worry - just start fresh the next day!
What happens when I earn stars?
Stars are earned based on mission difficulty and completion quality. They provide immediate positive reinforcement and help track overall engagement. You can view your total stars on the Today view and in the Parent Dashboard.
Can I use the app offline?
Yes! EF Academy works completely offline. No internet connection is required. All features, including missions, time blocks, focus timer, and progress tracking, work without connectivity.
How do I set up notifications?
Go to Settings → Notifications to enable reminders for mission deadlines and daily check-ins. You can schedule morning, afternoon, and evening reminders. All notifications are generated locally on your device and can be customized or disabled at any time.
What age is this app designed for?
EF Academy is designed for children and teens ages 8-16, though it can benefit younger children with parental guidance or older users looking to build executive function skills. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store.
Troubleshooting
App crashes or freezes
Try these steps:
- Force quit the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Ensure you have the latest iOS version installed
- Check for app updates in the App Store
- If issues persist, contact us with your device model and iOS version
Notifications not working
Check these settings:
- Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → EF Academy and ensure notifications are enabled
- Verify notification times are set correctly in the app's Settings
- Check that Do Not Disturb is not blocking notifications
- Ensure Focus modes aren't filtering EF Academy notifications
Progress not saving
If your progress isn't being saved:
- Check available storage on your device (Settings → General → iPhone Storage)
- Ensure the app isn't being offloaded (iOS Settings → App Store → Offload Unused Apps)
- Try force quitting and reopening the app
- Contact us if data loss continues
Can't access Parent Dashboard
If you're locked out:
- The default passcode is 0000
- If you changed it and forgot, contact us for reset instructions
- Passcode is stored locally - we cannot retrieve it remotely for security reasons
