Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a transaction?
Tap the "+" button on the home screen, select income or expense, enter the amount, choose a category, and save.
How do I track a loan?
Go to the Loans tab, tap "+", select whether you gave or received money, add the person's details, and enter the amount. You can track repayments and set due date reminders.
How does iCloud sync work?
iCloud sync is a premium feature. Once activated, your data automatically syncs across all your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account. Note: You may need to restart the app after upgrading for sync to activate.
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Settings → Premium → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Can I export my data?
Yes! Premium users can export transactions and loans to CSV format. Go to Settings → Export Data.
How do I set a budget?
Go to the Budget tab, tap "+" or select a category, and set your monthly spending limit. The app will track your progress and notify you when you're approaching the limit.
Is my data secure?
Yes! All your data is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, data is encrypted and stored in your private iCloud container. We never have access to your financial data.

Our Commitment: Your privacy is important to us. MoneyMinder is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal financial data.

1. Information We Collect

Data You Provide

MoneyMinder stores the following data that you enter:

  • Transaction records (income, expenses, transfers)
  • Account information (account names, balances)
  • Loan records and repayment history
  • Budget settings
  • Category preferences
  • Receipt images (stored locally)
  • People/contact names for loan tracking

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect personal identification information
  • We do not collect bank account numbers or financial credentials
  • We do not track your location
  • We do not collect usage analytics
  • We do not access your contacts without explicit permission

2. How Your Data is Stored

Local Storage

All your financial data is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync (Premium Feature)

If you enable iCloud sync:

  • Your data is encrypted and stored in your private iCloud container
  • Data syncs only between devices signed into your Apple ID
  • Apple manages the encryption and security of iCloud data
  • We cannot access your iCloud data

3. Third-Party Services

Apple Services

MoneyMinder uses the following Apple services:

  • StoreKit - For processing in-app purchases (Apple handles all payment data)
  • CloudKit - For iCloud sync (Premium users only)
  • Local Notifications - For reminders (processed entirely on your device)

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

4. Device Permissions

MoneyMinder may request the following permissions:

  • Camera - To capture receipt photos (optional)
  • Photo Library - To attach receipt images (optional)
  • Face ID / Touch ID - To secure the app (Premium, optional)
  • Notifications - To send daily reminders and loan due alerts (optional)
  • Contacts - To quickly add people for loans (Premium, optional)

All permissions are optional and can be managed in your device's Settings.

5. Data Security

  • All data is stored locally using Apple's secure Core Data framework
  • iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • Optional Face ID/Touch ID protection for app access
  • We do not have servers that store your data
  • We cannot access, view, or recover your data

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. To remove all data:

  • Delete the app - This removes all local data
  • iCloud data - Can be managed in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage

Since we don't collect your data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete.

7. Children's Privacy

MoneyMinder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences managing personal finances.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
